A ten day hunt, at the end of May, was my second elephant hunt with Myles McCallum. Myles is partners with Buzz Charlton in Charlton McCallum Safaris and a great outfitter they are. I hunted an elephant cow last year with Myles and we took her at ten yards with her doing her best to find us. After that great experience I decided to book a hunt this year for two elephant cows and a buffalo. While making my plans, my partner in a horse business, Shane Demler decided he should go to Zimbabwe with me for a buffalo. Shane had never be to Africa and thought it sounded like fun. While in Reno Myles, Buzz, and I talked him into upgrading his hunt to include an "ele". He promptly went over to the Hyena booth and bought a 470 NE double for the trip.

On the first day in Dande North both Shane and I took an elephant, mine and 13 yards and Shane's at 8 yards. Shane's first ever animal in Africa was an elephant charging at eight yes [8] yards, I only wish we all could have been there because his description of the events, as told around the campfire, had us all rolling with laughter, as he described his PH, Alan Shearing, putting him in a *&%$ or fight situation on his first day in the Zim bush. Tuskless cows occur about 1 in 40 animals and it took Myles and I six days and seeing about 150 elephants, up close and personal, to find and take my second Tuskless. Shane and I each took nice buffalo which wrapping up a another great trip with CM Safaris and we will be back for another adventure next May.
