Day 1: Slow day waiting for lost ammo to arrive. Morning scouted area, 2 big elephant bull tracks found. In the afternoon ammo arrived shot at the range all good to go. Day 2: Monster rain from 3am to 9am so left late from camp. Followed 2 bull tracks but not huge finding the bulls. 1 bull a 20 pounder the other about 15lbs. Day 3: Started a random walk, found two nice bull tracks. 2 hours later found them, one bull was about 15lbs the other +/-35lbs with a huge body but let him go. Day 4-7: We spent working the Chekafa block following in total 12 bulls but we never saw them as they kept crossing the boundary. Day 8: Followed 7 bulls from some fields after 8 hours of tracking, finally caught up to them and looked at them. There was one good bull +/-40lbs. Ed took a side brain shot at 25 yards a bit high with a few more shots he was down. All happy days. Day 9: Was spent recovering the bull and delivering meat. Last day, early morning walk for sable, saw lots of sign but no luck. Back to camp. Weighed the ivory going 40lbs and 36lbs. a good elephant and a good hunt. Well done to Ed & Deena. |
