It was a pleasure to have not only Marius who was on his 3rd safari with CM but to have his 16 year old son Franco join us for his first dangerous game experience.

Franco was to shoot a buff and tuskless as was his Dad and then we were to take a ration elephant as well. The elephant hunt was great and Franco got his first tuskless with a quartering away brain shot at 20 yards with a high class Parker Hale rifle .375 H&H.

On the recovery we did a little walk and saw a fantastic Klipspringer which Marius shot to add to his Tiny 5 collection!

The couple of days we looked at lots and lots of buffalo with Franco and could have shot a few bulls but were waiting for the right one and the right situation. On the 4th day Marius shot a ration ele with his 470 John Wilks at 25 yards frontal brain shot.

From there we decided to move to ward 11 where we would spend a week hunting the next buff and tuskless. We had lions in camp ever night as they killed a buff right behind the camp which was great. Marius shot his 5th elephant with us which was a tuskless with a perfect brain shot at 20 yards so we were down to the old buff for Franco.

We followed a few dugga boys which we passed up and there was a big herd with over 100 buff in them with some good bulls which we decided to concentrate on. Unfortunately Franco developed an eye issue which meant we had to come out early -  I look forward to a future Dugga boy hunt with Franco and Marius!

This is my 3rd safari with Charlton McCallum safari’s since 2007. I have missed hunting with them last year to enable me to take my son Franco with as he turned 16 this year. If one takes your only child into Africa to hunt dangerous game, one chooses a well - run company, with Professionals looking after your well - being. As with previous safaris , this year was no exception with a splendid safari area, excellent camps and food and well managed operations. My son shot his Tuskless , myself 2 elephant a very old Dagga boy and also a trophy Klipspringer. The Dagga boy was shot after being tracked for nearly 5 hours by the excellent trackers employed by CM Safaris (Criton and Nyathi) My son accidently got some water disinfectant in his eye (his dads fault) and could not finish the hunt for his buffalo. With the help of Buzz, a plane was organized, on very short notice ,to enable us to fly to Harare and see an eye specialist after hours. It is these extra efforts by CM Safaris ,that will make me return year after year to hunt with them!
