a tuff 25 km 7 hours walk, temperature around 42 Celsius. We saw a

After the hunt of the day before we decided to check
some islands on the lake by canoe from one of the villages looking
for hippo, but as it was very windy we did not have any luck, so after
lunch we took a walk near camp on the north bank, we saw some female
grysbok and duikers, and after an hour walk we saw a male bushbuck
about 60-70 meters and smoked! It was a 14 inch windy bushbuck. A
great little walk, a walk to remember. |

We start the day on the cruiser looking for a lake
fisherman to paddle for us into the channels of the Cabora Bassa looking
for Hippo and in the last channel we went into a small dam between
some thick brush and there they were about 8 hippos and just before
the day was gone we decided to take the side brain shot of the biggest
one from the dugout, we left the dirty work for next morning, knowing
it was a good shot. My heart was pumping hard the all day as we were
always between hippos and crocs. |

| Day

Just day 5 and it was Mission hippo, the same way
we got there the day before (by dugout) we went to the place to recover
the hippo. It was a difficult morning! First finding the hippo and
then watching all the people (about 100) coming out from everywhere
to help to get the beast out of the water, all just to get some meat.
This afternoon we went to set some baits for the croc`s, and we sat
in one of our blinds and saw a lot of them - one particular Big ,
dark and heavy croc, but it was dark when he decided to get out of
the water and we did not risk the shoot, but waited for the next day. |

3 shots brain, neck and a body shot. |

Roan tracking morning. We pick the track at daylight
and after 3 hours of excellent tracking we were on them, we saw them
for about 3 minutes eating some fruits about 70 yards, 2 females and
one small male that we decided to pass. In the night we went for hyenas
and missed one. |
|
|
| Day
15 |
|
Went back to Nyankok spring to try to track a Roan
and again just day light and we pick a male single track that we decided
to follow but went with the wind and after 1 hour we decided to quit
the hunt so we went back to the cruiser and went to check our leopard
bait and tracks. Our last bait was hit by a leopard so we decided
to built a blind there and hunt it that afternoon we set until 9:00
pm with out luck. |

| Day
16 |
|
In our way to check our last baits we found 5 elephants
bull tracks from that morning that we follow and after 3 hour of tracking
we were about a 100 mts. From them went they wind at us and disappear
running so no luck that morning.
That night we went to our hyena spot and we kill one with 2 shoots. |

Our last day of hunting was planning to be easy going
for tiger fish fishing and get ready to go back to Zimbabwe; but that
morning Carel give us the advise to give the last check on our very
last bait for leopard and for 9:30 a.m. we were on the bait and for
our surprise it was hit by a the leopard the we kill the very last
minute of our hunt (7:53 p.m.) after we did again the blind that we
were pick up the day before. WHAT A WAY TO END A VERY SUCCESSFUL AND
UNIQUE SAFARI. |
