To Mkanga Valley – found herd of approx 1000 buffalo. Lots of shot opportunities but first day so declined. Spent all day with them. Lions and elephants seen.

Day 2

back to Mkanga valley. Same as day one same herd seen. Lions and elephants seen as well. Shot opportunities declined.

Day 3

Same as days one and 2. Lions had begun to split up the herd in to smaller groups.
Shot opportunities declined.

Day 4

Same as days 1,2,3,. Lions had begun to split up the herd in to smaller groups.
Shot opportunities declined.

Day 5

We decided we had played enough and it was time to get serious. We had to date passed probably 20 or 30 opportunities at mature bulls some of them well over 40 inches.

Tracked one of the splinter herds of approx 150 animals for 3 hours. Found them on top of a hill corralled by a pride of 4 lions, 3 lionesses and a young male. The lions got in between us and the herd – 5 paces away then chased the herd again. We heard them killing buff but left them to it.

After 2 hours with the herd we got Dave a nice 5/7 pace shot of a bank at a good bull. He hit it perfectly with his .470 NE Merkel. 1st shot a soft as it was walking after the herd (last aimal).
We followed a very good blood trail. Came upon the bull in long grass at 3 paces – luckily he was facing away and lying down. 4 more shots by Dave and all over!

Day 6 - 7

Looked for wart hogs etc… and just had fun in Chewore south.

Day 8

signed out of Chewore and drove to Tiger Odyssey. That pm fished and Dave caught 3 tiger.
Biggest 6 lbs.

Day 9

Dave to Chawalo on croc and hippo hunt with Henno.
