Iain shot his tuskless on the first day of the hunt. We saw another tuskless with a small calf and looked at numerous other cows all with tusks. We had seen other in the same area, so we went looking for them. We tracked a small group for a short way and came upon tuskless cow feeding. We got infront of her and Iain shot her frontal brain at 8 yards. Two more shots were put in for good measure! All 3 bullets went through the brain and exited in the spinal cord. Two were not found, but entered the spinal cord, one was recovered in the meat of the chest, exited out of the spine close to the brain and into the chest.

We looked for a second tuskless on Riverside/option area, but few elephant were seen. Only one group of cows, no tuskless.

This was my first trip to Zim and first large game hunt after 10 plains game hunts in South Africa and Namibia. It is everything I would have wanted and more. All the staff worked hard to make my stay as enjoyable as possible.

We found my tuskless elephant early on the first day and she was shot 4 hours 10 minutes into my 7 day hunt. That’s hunting for you, sometimes it goes smoothly and other times it can take days.

Spent the rest of the week fishing and game viewing until another tuskless permit was secured. Once this was obtained we did not see another tuskless. Oh well there is always next year
