Another fun hunt with Mike! Hallom, his son-in-law came along as an observer. Hallom to take the buffalo, Mike the tuskless.
The first trophy was a tuskless bull (very unusual). We hunted him hard for 4-5 hours before finally getting a shot. Mike gave him a perfect side brain at 7 paces.
We spent plenty of time hunting buffalo with Hallom and passed up lots of opportunities. Any way we decided on an old bull in the herd near camp. Hallom double lunged him at 100 paces. The bull only managed 5 metres before collapsing. Very good shot, nice old ‘dagga boy’ and some bait for Mike to use for Leopard. We had 2 big toms feed but were unsuccessful-the big Rifa spring cat came late and left early. We heard him at the bait but still too dark to shoot. |
