Elephant shot on day six of hunt. Frontal brain shot taken +/- 50 yards. Elephant were incredibly nervous and after previous failed approach due to noise a longer shot was taken as elephant had seen us and other elephant had started to run.
Brain shot was slightly high and did not drop the elephant. But back up body shots were taken and the elephant did not go further than 30 yards.
Only on e bullet was recovered from coupe de gras from top of head and was found in brisket meat. There was very little damage to bullet.
Saw lots of elephant cows that had been crop raiding, but not many bulls. Followed two bulls on 3rd day, and was foiled by wind on final approach and again later in the day. 4 bulls were followed on day 4, but they crossed the boundry. |
