We drove down to the Rugese - saw 2 herds of sable and a herd of buffalo - 3 dugga boys saw us and ran over the hill. We went around the back of the hill to try and intercept them. We had agreed to only shoot one if it was really big or close. Anyway we were lucky and chose the exact route and hid behind some rocks. The bulls came right to us and Mike heart shot the lead buffalo at 5 yards. Another running shot and the bull collapsed only 2 yards away. The walk back to camp was 4.5 hours as we had to carry out all the meat!

The rest of the hunt was spent trying to find a good elephant or a big sable. Lots of walking and lots of ele bulls seen but nothing good enough. Along the way a grysbok and warthog were taken by Mike. A good fun hunt with lota of game seen.

I wish I had been fitter to keep up with PH Myles, but such is the quality of life at the moment.
The seven day hunt was magnificent in fantastic surroundings, and we did walk quite allot.
We were successful with a good buffalo on day one, shot at a distance of 5 yards on a hill slope.
We looked for a trophy bull elephant and a sable bull, but they were elusive.
Camp facilities, the meals in particular were great, and Myles was a joy and a privilege to be with.
