| Ph Comment - 1st tuskless |
 |
We followed a heard of about 60 elephant, of which 2 were tuskless. The herd were on the move and we stayed with them for about 1.5 hours, trying to get ahead of them and move the tuskless into a shootable position. We eventually got 20 yards from the largest tuskless and Dick took a side brain shot - slightly quartering towards. The bullet took her just behind the eye and went through her brain killing her instantly. The bullet was recovered in the brain cavity, about 2.25 foot of penetration through the skull.

| 2nd tuskless |

We went to an area where allot of cows had been seen. We spotted a small herd a few kilometers away and decided to have a look. After a cautious approach we got to within 30 yards and spotted a large tuskless. We waited for a shot to present itself. Eventually she turned broadside and Dick shot her just below the ear hole. It knocked her down, but the bullet deflected off the base of her skull and passed under her spine where it meets the skull. Had it not deflected it would have been another perfect brain shot. A further 2 shots, one in the hip and one in the spine kept her grounded, allowing us to finish her off with a couple of coup de grass shots. |

Good trackers, fine hunting - very good combination.
